Pitch and putt is an amateur sport, which has a great similarity to the well-known international sport called golf. However, the hole length is typically less than eighty yards as compared to the hole length in regular golf. In international competitions the maximum hole length is up to 100 yards.
In this sport, players are only allowed to use three clubs in which one must be a putter. The sport is played on raised artificial teeing surfaces. This sport came into existence in Ireland in 1940 and was only played here. However, now this sport has gain a lot of popularity and is played around the globe.
The European Pitch and Putt association, which has been around since 1999, organizes this sport all around the world.
