Biomechanical analysis of technique is very useful for identifying and correcting problems with someone's bowling technique.
Bowling elements that can be measured and identified using video analysis include:
- Angle of release
- Release velocity
- Head and body position at release
- The arc of travel of the bowling ball
- Joint and segment angles
- Segment velocities
Software
There are many video analysis software packages available for analyzing the technique of bowlers. There is a range of software with varying features, ranging in cost from freeware to very expensive. A few of these are described on the page about Biomechanical Video Analysis.
Bowling Specific Software
Bowlers motion analysis program (MAP): a video analysis software program designed specifically for bowling. (software currently under development)
