Road Tennis

Road Tennis is a racket and ball sport derived from lawn tennis, that is played on a smaller court with paddles and a low wooden net. The sport was developed in Barbados in the 1930s, where it continues to be popular.

Road tennis is more like table tennis than lawn tennis. Most games are played on the road, but officially a court should beĀ 20 x 10 feet (6 x 3 meters), with the court marked out using chalk or tape. The net is a piece of plywood eight inches (20 centimeters) high. The bats are similar to those used in table tennis, but without the rubber. The balls are tennis balls with the furry layer removed.

The scoring is like in table tennis, the first player to score 21 points wins, with each taking five serves in turn.
