Skysurfing is a sport in which a skydiver attaches a board to his feet during freefall. He then becomes a “sky surfer” and will perform different surfing movements through the air. Most of the time a sky surfer doesn’t go alone. There will always be another sky surfer who has a camera attached to its helmet and will video the dive or fall. Both of them are equipped with a parachute.

This sport was created by two French skydivers, Jean-Pascal Oron and Dominique Jacquet in 1986. It only became very popular during the 1990s.

With more skydivers becoming interested and challenged with the sport, developments happened and it adapted freestyle skydiving and freefly skydiving.

Freestyle skydiving involves creating different styles during the freefall. This is making the sport more challenging since it is veering away from the traditional belly-to-earth flat position.

And as for freefly skydiving, it uses different body positions while building a formation with different sky surfers. Deliberate skills is definitely needed to this type of sky surfing since you will not be only one person, but with a group of sky surfers.
