The People's Republic of Bangladesh, formerly called East Pakistan. Bangladesh joined the Commonwealth in 1972 but did not make its first appearance at a Commonwealth Games until 1978, then until 1990 in Auckland, New Zealand, and every Games since. In 1990, Bangladesh picked up their first medals, a gold and bronze in shooting.
Prior to the partition of India in 1947, the Indian team at the Commonwealth Games may have included athletes from the area which is now Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Trivia
- The second medal for Bangladesh came in their fourth Games, Manchester in 2002, with another gold in the shooting.
- Bangladesh has won a total of eight Commonwealth Games medals, including two gold medals, all coming in shooting events (prior to 2022)
