The Best FIFA Football Awards 2022
The Best FIFA Football Awards for 2022 was an international football award ceremony conducted by the sport's governing body FIFA. Here are the awards presented in January 2023 for the 2022 sporting year. The men's and women's World 11 was also announced at the ceremony.
- Best Player Award (men): The 2022 winner of the FIFA best male player award was Lionel Messi, winning the award for the 7th time.
- Best Player Award (women): The 2022 winner of the FIFA female best player award was Spain's Alexia Putellas. She was also the winner of the 2022 Ballon d'Or.
- FIFA Coaches of the Year Award: The men's award went to Argentina's coach Lionel Scaloni. The women's coach of the year award went to England's coach Sarina Wiegman.
- Men's and Women's Goalkeeper of the Year: Argentinian Emiliano Martínez, playing for Aston Villa, was awarded the Best Men's Goalkeeper. Mary Earps, representing Manchester United and England, won the Best Women's Goalkeeper award.
- FIFA Puskas Award: Awarded for the goal of the year went Polish amputee player Marcin Oleksy scored a stunning, acrobatic volley in his domestic league for Warta Poznan against Stal Rzeszow.
- Fair Play Award: This award recognizes behavior that promotes the spirit of fair play and compassion. The winner in 2022 was Luka Lochoshvili for saving the life of Austrian footballer Georg Teigl after he collapsed during an Austrian Bundesliga match between Austria Wien and Wolfsberger AC.
Although not part of the FIFA Best Awards, there are two FIFA awards given annually to national teams based on international rankings.
- Team of the Year: Awarded each year to the first ranked team in the December-edition of the FIFA World Ranking. The winner in 2022 was Brazil.
- Mover of the Year: Awarded to the team who made the best progress up the rankings over the course of the year. The winner in 2022 was Morocco.
