The Best FIFA Football Awards 2021
The Best FIFA Football Awards for 2021 was an international football award ceremony conducted by the sport's governing body FIFA. Here are the awards presented in January 2022 for the 2021 sporting year. The men's and women's World 11 was also announced at the ceremony.
- Best Player Award (men): The 2021 winner of the FIFA best male player award was Poland's Robert Lewandowski.
- Best Player Award (women): The 2021 winner of the FIFA female best player award was Spain's Alexia Putellas. She was also the winner of the 2021 Ballon d'Or.
- FIFA Coaches of the Year Award: The men's award went to the coach of Chelsea, Thomas Tuchel. The women's coach of the year award went to Chelsea coach Emma Hayes.
- Men's and Women's Goalkeeper of the Year: Édouard Mendy, who played for Senegal and Chelsea, was awarded the Best Men's Goalkeeper. Christiane Endler, representing Paris Saint-Germain and Chile, won the Best Women's Goalkeeper award.
- FIFA Puskas Award: Awarded for the goal of the year went Polish amputee player Marcin Oleksy scored a stunning, acrobatic volley in his domestic league for Warta Poznan against Stal Rzeszow.
- Fair Play Award: This award recognizes behavior that promotes the spirit of fair play and compassion. The winner in 2021 was Denmark national team and the medical staff who administered critical CPR and protected Christian Eriksen during the UEFA Euro 2020 group stage match versus Finland.
Although not part of the FIFA Best Awards, there are two FIFA awards given annually to national teams based on international rankings.
- Team of the Year: Awarded each year to the first ranked team in the December-edition of the FIFA World Ranking. The winner in 2021 was Belgium.
- Mover of the Year: Awarded to the team who made the best progress up the rankings over the course of the year. The winner in 2021 was Canada.
