Recruits for the Northern Territory Police Force are required to undergo a fitness assessment as part of the recruitment process. Below is some information about the fitness requirements and standards for the Police TRG and for the NT Correctional Services. Police TRG Assessment Tests
There is a one day selection trial for the Police TRG (Tactical Response Group) in the Northern Territory, which requires you to perform:
- 100 full pushups
- 100 sit ups
- 15 chin ups
- An agility run
- 3.4 km run under 16 min 30 seconds
- 400m swim and 2 minute treading water.
Completion of the above makes you eligible for a three day intense physical assessment.

Some of the fitness requirements for the male prison officers include:
- 7.4 on the beep test (18 – 30 years)
- 6.7 on the beep test (30 – 40 years)
- 5.4 on the beep test (40 – 50 years)
- Agility test - completed in under 22 seconds.
- Push Ups - 18 in a row.
- Sit Ups 20 - in a row.
- Chips-ups - 10 in a row.
