Chest (Pectoral) Skinfold
The chest or pectoral skinfold site is one of the less common locations used for the assessment of body fat using skinfold calipers. Another site, the juxta-nipple skinfold site, is also sometimes called the chest skinfold site. Another site on the chest wall is the Rib-10 skinfold site (see details below).
These measurements are often only performed on males due to the difficulty in modestly obtaining a measurement on females. See the complete list of skinfold sites, and the general procedure for taking skinfold measurements.
Pectoral Skinfold Landmark
- The pinch is taken at a point between the axilla and nipple as high as possible on the anterior axillary fold.

Other Chest Skinfold Sites
- A more detailed (and different) site description for the pectoral skinfold site has been found. The pectoral site was described as an oblique skinfold taken along the borderline of the pectoralis major muscle between the anterior axillary fold and the nipple. For females the measurement is taken at 1/3 the distance between the anterior fold and the nipple, and for males it is at 1/2 the distance.
- Juxta-nipple skinfold site — also sometimes called the chest skinfold site, is obtained just lateral to the nipple. The pinch is applied lateral to the nipple at the same level.
- Rib-10 — a horizontal skinfold raised on the chest above the 10th rib at the point of intersection with the anterior axillary line
