2024 Ballon d'Or Results (men)

The Ballon d'Or Award is an annual football award for the best international football player from the previous season. The award is voted by a panel of selected journalists from the top football playing countries.

The 2024 Ballon d'Or award was determined over the 2023/24 season and taking into consideration performances in any international tournaments. This is the third year of the new voting period. The award has now aligned with the regular football season, while before 2022 it was judged based on the previous calendar year.

The winner was announced at a gala ceremony on 28th October 2024, held at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris (as in recent years).

The 30 nominated players are listed below. There were six members nominated from the Real Madrid team that won La Liga and the Champions League last season. This was also the first time since 2003 that both Messi and Ronaldo had been left off the list of nominees.

The 2023 Ballon d'Or winner was Argentinian Lionel Messi, winning a record eighth award, and probably his last. The early favorite to win in 2024 was Englishman Jude Bellingham, who plays as a midfielder for La Liga club Real Madrid. Another favorite was Vinicius Junior, another member of Real Madrid.

Rodri Wins!

The 2024 award, presented by City legend George Weah (the 1995 winner), was won by Manchester City and Spanish player Rodri.

Rodri was the first Manchester City player to win the award, and only the seventh man to win it while playing in the English league. He is also the first Spanish player to win the men’s Ballon d’Or since Luis Suárez in 1960.
