- Sachin Tendulkar is called God of Cricket just for nothing. Can you tell me who has won the maximum number of man of the match and man of the series? Isn't it given to the best player of the match or say the match winner.You talk of Test, I still agree there are possible comparisons..Lara,Bradman, Kallis, Ponting can be put in the same bracket. But ODIs? he has been and always far ahead of the race..He has accumulated 18000+ runs and the second best is lying far behind at 13000+ runs.. Here, mind you the difference in the number of odis played by both the players are less than 100 matches.In Odis he is the first to a score of 200, first to 10,000, 11,000,12,000,13,000,14000,15,000,16,000 and so on.Has the most number of 100's and do you know how many 50's he made in odis? 96 ie. staggering 145 50+ odi scores around the world. Now,please dont say that he has played more matches or started very early..You won't get a chance at the highest level at such a tender age of 16 and then continuously perform for 23 long years unless you are the Sachin Tendulkar. Even in test,if Kallis has a better average or lara has the biggest innings.. Sachin too has the most 50's, 100's and run aggregate. and his average is not that down. Yes Sir Don Bradman was a class apart. But he never had to get in the demand and pressure of modern day cricket where you need to travel round the year and play continuously.Moreover he played only in England n Australia. But,yes,given a chance may he would have performed then too. But would he be able to overcome career ending injuries like Tennis elbow or backbone injury that Sachin carried without complaining for a decade now.. and still manage to be in contention to be the best in business! Now you say injuries are an excuse then excuse me.. dont say getting most runs coz he played most matches becoz not all can survive that long. And why dont you just see the stats.. he managed to be at top in both Test n ODIs simultaneously and maintained it for so many years coping all injuries and such huge expectations!!! Now I am getting a bit restless, People like you have touched a bat once a while in years and this man has carried the bat day in and day out.. for 23 long years for his country. Do you think people like you or me even qualify or fit to judge him? I have no personal grudge against you but its just that we Indians are sore losers! We dont know to value our on assets.If Sachin would have played for SA or Aussies we would have gone gaga for him but now that we have a player like him, we take him for granted and dare to criticize him..maybe we envy him for his success. We Indians actually dont deserve heroes as we dont know to value them ... We do the same to our soldiers and our farmers..they are our real heroes but we give a damn! (from Dawar, Dec 2012)
- Sachin Tendulkar only plays for himself.his own records and his own stats ... I simply fail to understand why do we keep on ranking him as the best when cricket is a team game..and I don't know why we all kept saying that we won the world cup for sachin tendulkar.this is unfair to our unsung heros of the game like Rahul dravid who has never got any recognition for his contribution to indian cricket with over 12000 runs in tests,and over 10000 runs in odis he is still dropped from the team . This is very unfortunate for our country and india should be ashamed of itself for treating our heros this way. (from E.K, June 2011)
