1964 UEFA European Nations Cup: Spain

The 1964 UEFA European Nations Cup (later called the UEFA European Football Championship), was the second edition of the tournament. It was held in Spain from June 17 to June 21.

This tournament featured a knockout format with only four teams participating in the finals: Spain, the Soviet Union, Hungary, and Denmark. The host nation, Spain, emerged victorious, securing their first major international title by defeating the defending champions, the Soviet Union, 2-1 in the final at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid.

The decisive goals for Spain were scored by Jesús María Pereda in the 6th minute and Marcelino Martínez in the 84th minute, with Galimzyan Khusainov equalizing for the Soviet Union in the 8th minute.
