The 2001 Copa América was held in Colombia. It was the 40th edition of the tournament.
The tournament featured the ten CONMEBOL nations—Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela—along with invited teams Canada and Costa Rica.
In the final, Colombia emerged victorious by defeating Mexico 1-0, claiming their first-ever Copa América title.
