1999 Copa América in Paraguay
The 1999 Copa América was held in Paraguay. It was the 39th edition of the tournament. There were 12 teams(10 CONMEBOL teams and 2 invited teams). Invited Teams: Japan and Mexico.
Brazil won the tournament, beating Uruguay 3-0 in the final, claiming their sixth Copa América title. This marked Brazil's second consecutive title win, having won in 1997 as well.
Trivia
- The mascot for 1999 was Tagua, a wild boar. It symbolized Paraguay's Gran Chaco region, known for its harsh, arid climate. See more about Copa América Mascots.
