The 1947 Copa América was held in Ecuador. It was the 20th edition of the tournament, and the first time that Ecuador had hosted the event.
The 1947 tournament in Ecuador was significant as it was the first to feature all ten CONMEBOL members.
The tournament was won by Argentina, the third of three consecutive titles, 1945, 1946 and 1947.
Trivia
- At the time the tournament was named the South American Championship. It was not called the Copa América until after 1967.
