The 1946 Copa América was held in Argentina. It was the 19th edition of the tournament.
The tournament saw the participation of seven CONMEBOL nations—Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Colombia.
The event was held in a round-robin format where each team played against the others once, and Argentina emerged as the winner by finishing at the top of the standings, claiming their seventh Copa América title, and the second of three consecutive titles: 1945, 1946 and 1947.
Trivia
- At the time the tournament was named the South American Championship. It was not called the Copa América until after 1967.
