1939 Copa América in Peru
The 1939 Copa América was held in Peru. It was the 15th edition of the tournament.
The tournament saw the participation of five CONMEBOL nations—Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay.
The event was conducted in a round-robin format where each team played against the others once, and Peru emerged as the winner by finishing at the top of the standings, securing their first Copa América title.
Trivia
- At the time the tournament was named the South American Championship. It was not called the Copa América until after 1967.
