Winter Paralympics: 2022 Beijing

The Paralympic Winter Games were held in Beijing, China, in 2022 just days after the completion of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games. The event was held from 4 to 13 March, 2022. Beijing became the first city to host both the Winter and Summer Paralympics.

Following the invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops in early 2022, the athletes from Russia and Belarus were banned from competing at the 2022 Winter Paralympics.

The Beijing 2022 mascot was Shuey Rhon Rhon, a Chinese lantern child which represented harvest, celebration, warmth, and light.

The Beijing 2022 motto was ‘Together for a Shared Future’.

There were six sports on the program. There was 78 sets of medals awarded – 39 for men, 35 for women and four mixed events.
