• Out of the first 20 Games (up to and including 2014), Australia has lead the medal count 12 times, with England 7 times and Canada 1 time.
• Since 1966, the same countries have made up the first three places of the medal count: Australia, England and Canada - except in 2010 when India slipped into second place between Australia and England.
• England have been in the top two countries of the final medal count for all Commonwealth Games except in 1994 and 2010 when they finished 3rd.
• Australian shooter Phillip Adams has won the most medals at the Commonwealth Games – 18 medals (7 Gold, 9 Silver, 2 Bronze) won at the Games (1982, 1986, 1990, 1994 & 2002). He has now been joined by Mick Gault of England, who also has 18 medals in shooting. (see top medal winners)
• Lawn bowler Willie Wood from Scotland is the first competitor to have competed in seven Commonwealth Games, from 1974 to 2002.
• Greg Yelavich, a sports shooter from New Zealand, won 12 medals in seven games from 1986 to 2010.
• Gibraltar have attended 16 Games though is yet to win a medal.
