NBA MVP (Season Winner)

Here is the list of winners of the Most Valuable Player award (MVP) of the NBA season. The award is given to the best performing player of the regular NBA season, since the 1955–56 season. Originally, the MVP was selected by a vote of NBA players, though since the 1980–81 season the award is decided by a panel of sportswriters and broadcasters. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar won the award a record six times, Bill Russell and Michael Jordan has won it five times. See also the MVP of the finals series.
