Tiger Stadium, located at Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is an American Football stadium that belongs to the Louisiana State University. It is very common to hear the stadium being referred by its nickname "Death Valley" in the media and by the fans because of the game day atmosphere which makes it one of the most difficult places for the opposing teams to play.
The stadium was opened in 1924 with a initial seating capacity of just 12,000. After several expansions, the latest of which was done in 2014, its current official capacity is 102,321, which makes the stadium the sixth largest stadium within the United States and seventh largest in the world.
The stadium is primarily used for playing college football games and Louisiana State University Tigers host all their home games in this stadium. Tiger Stadium has reached its maximum official capacity crowd on three separate occasions, all of them during the 2014 season right after the expansion. The 2014, season also recorded 100K+ attendance for four other games.
Tiger Stadium served as a temporary host for the New Orleans Saints home games in 2005 when hurricane Katrina destroyed their Superdome. The Saints played four games in the stadium, for which the field was re-branded to reflect their franchise.
