Luzhniki Stadium is located in Moscow, Russia. It has a capacity of 81,000 seats. The stadium was first built in 1955, and used until 2013. The old Luzhniki Stadium was demolished and rebuilt for the 2018 World Cup, though the authorities attempted to maintain the historical facade and architecture of the old stadium in the new design.

- In 1982, in the dying seconds of a UEFA Cup match between FC Spartak and Dutch side Haarlem at Luzhniki Stadium, a large number of people started rushing toward the exit to get to the metro before the rest of the crowd. A total of 66 people died in the crush.
