Kyrgyzstan has participated in the Winter Games since 1994. Prior to that, the nation was part of the Soviet Union that competed at the Winter Games from 1952 to 1988 and the Unified Team in 1992 Summer Olympics.
The dissolution of the once mighty Soviet Union had paved the way for Kyrgyztan to participate at the Olympics.
Although the eco-friendly and tea-loving nation has already won several medals in wrestling and judo at the Summer Olympics, the nation is still waiting for its first medal at the Winters Games.
Kyrgyzstan was represented at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games in Russia by just one athletes, Evgeniy Timofeev, who competed in Men's giant slalom and Men's slalom events in alpine skiing, but failed to secure berths into the next round.
