Serbia and Montenegro at the Olympics

Two athletes from Serbia competed at the 1912 Summer Olympics. After that athletes from this region competed in the team from Yugoslavia. At the 1992 Olympics, athletes from Serbia and Montenegro participated as Independent Olympic Participants, as their nation was under United Nations sanctions.



A team called Federal Republic of Yugoslavia was represented at the 1996 and 2000 Olympics, which was actually a federation of the regions of Serbia and Montenegro, and in 2004 they competed under the name Serbia and Montenegro. Montenegro declared independence from Serbia in 2006. At the 2008 Summer Games in Beijing, they competed as the separate independent nations Serbia & Montenegro, and has done so since.
