Portugal's men's national football team has qualified for the UEFA European Championship (the Euros) nine times - in 1984 and all tournaments since 1996.

- 1996: finished first in their group, and in the quarter-finals lost to the Czech Republic
- 2000: Semi-finals - Lost to eventual champions France.
- 2004: Runner-up - Lost to Greece in the final.
- 2008: Quarter-finals.
- 2012: Semi-finals - Lost to Spain in penalties.
- 2016: Champion - Beat France in the final.
- 2020: Round of 16.
- 2024: Reached the quarter-finals
