The FIFA Intercontinental Cup is an annual international men's association football competition, first held in 2024. (there have been previous tournaments also called the Intercontinental Cup)
The competition features the club champions of the six confederations of FIFA, played as a knock-out tournament. The tournament is very similar to the Club World Cup, previously played between the world's top seven club teams, though it has now expanded to a tournament of 32 teams.
- Africa - Confederation of African Football
- Asia - Asian Football Confederation
- Europe - Union of European Football Associations
- North, Central America and the Caribbean - Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football
- Oceania - Oceania Football Confederation
- South America - Confederación Sudamericana de Fútbol
The team representing European, traditionally the strongest team, receives a bye to the final.
Format
- First round: One match. FIFA African–Asian–Pacific Cup play-off. The AFC/CAF representatives alternate as hosts each year.
- Second round: Two Matches. FIFA African–Asian–Pacific Cup plus the FIFA Derby of the Americas (CONMEBOL vrs CONCACAF).
- Play-off: FIFA Challenger Cup. The two second round winners will face each other.
- Final: The play-off winners will face the UEFA representatives.
