The ICC Champions Trophy is a One Day International (ODI) cricket tournament held every four years (though it has been 8 years since the last one). The ninth edition of the tournament was held in 2025 in Pakistan (games played in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi), becoming the first major International Cricket Council (ICC) tournament hosted by Pakistan in nearly 30 years. However, due to political tensions, India will play all its matches in Dubai, UAE.
The 2025 event was played from February 19 to March 9, 2025. The opening match was played on February 19, 2025, between Pakistan and New Zealand in Karachi. The final, played on March 9, was held at either Dubai International Cricket Stadium was India made the final.
Participants
The tournament comprised the top-ranked One Day International (ODI) teams: Pakistan, India, New Zealand, Bangladesh, Australia, England, South Africa, and Afghanistan. Of the nations with Test playing status, missing were the West Indies, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe and Ireland.
Group A: Pakistan, India, New Zealand, Bangladesh
Group B: Australia, England, South Africa, Afghanistan
Each team played against the others in their group, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals.
Finals
The semi-final matches were between Australia and India (won by India), and South Africa and New Zealand (won by NZ).
In the final, played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium (DISC), India defeated New Zealand by four wickets for their third title.
